"I could NOT put it down after reading the first chapter. I'm fair and honest in saying this book is crazy good!" - Charissa from Joy in the Moments

Christopher and Jaime Pianos and Promises Book 1 edition by Jennifer Peel Romance eBooks

Possible spoilers, but no specifics. (If you know what kind of book you're getting into there are no surprises.)

Every marriage at one point goes through some degree of roommate syndrome. (That's the totally technical term and not at all something I just made up.) Two people who truly love each other forget the need or forget how to express the love they have for each other. The apathy can be so sneaky that it is difficult to recognize before it reaches critical point. Overcoming that communication gap, which has often lead to mostly unintentionally hurtful actions, is so vital, but so tricky.

This book so beautifully highlights this process. The hurt, the love, the forgiveness and the redemption. It highlights one of the things I think Peel does so well in all her books, she writes pain so realistically but without wallowing. Because of that skill the contrasting joy is felt even deeper. This skill is what makes Peel one of my favorite authors.

It's short, but worth it. I loved it.

Christopher and Jaime Pianos and Promises Book 1 edition by Jennifer Peel Romance eBooks Reviews

Hooked from page 1 until the end. Jamie has loved her friend Chris for years and when the choose another to marry she was broken hearted. When Chris's wife died in an automobile accident with her lover Jamie steps in to care to his child who Jamie adores. She decides she must move on with her life so she takes a job in another state but Chris proposes a marriage of convenience and she accepts when he agrees to another child with Jamie. After two years in their marriage and Chris is working nonstop and refuges to have another child Jamie has had enough so she rents her own house and gets a job. Chris is involved in an accident and the in a coma and Jamie stays with him in the hospital until he out of the coma but while he is in the coma she tells him how much she loves him and ask why could not love her. When he recovers he knows he has been a fool and wants his family back and starts working his way back. It's a happy ending but heart wrenching during most of the story.
Loved this book and would love to read more from her.
Jaime had loved Chris since 6th grade. They became best friends even though they were opposites and, as young girls do, Jaime was sure they would get married. They stayed best friends throughout their lives, staying in touch even when they went away to college.

Jaime was devastated when Chris married someone else. Especially when she didn't like the woman. When Chris' wife died suddenly, he needed help caring for his daughter, Allie, so he called Jaime.

She didn't hesitate to go to him. Jaime still hoped Chris would realize that she was the one he wanted, so this was her chance to make her dreams come true. But she eventually saw that the life she dreamed about was not going to happen so she decided to leave, taking a job 4 hours away.

Chris could not believe she was actually going to leave him and Allie. The only way he could think of getting her to stay was to marry her. Jaime was thrilled and said 'yes' but wondered if he could keep his promises.

It doesn't work out the way Jaime expected. She knew she deserved more than she was getting in the relationship, so 2 years later, Jaime filed for divorce. She wanted a better life for Allie as well as herself and she thought this was the way to get it. But how was she going to live without Chris?

It was nice to read a book that was true to life with relationship problems and not all happy times. There were times that I wanted to shake Jaime and Chris. Jaime spent years in love with a man, who had no idea she loved him and Chris spent years not seeing the good thing he had right in front of him.

I am recommending this bitter-sweet romance and I am looking forward to reading more by Jennifer Peel.
Can't say how much I LOVE this book. As soon as I finished this book I opened it back up and re-read it. The characters are so well developed. I love the pull on your heart strings that Jennifer uses, and the happy ending that every great story should have.
This is a standalone read with a HEA. I loved this story and could hardly put it down. The two main characters have been best friends for years. She has had a serious crush on him for years but he seems to keep her in the sister zone. They go their separate ways for college, etc. But they are still there for each other keeping In touch through Skype when on different continents and by phone when in the same country. Their relationship is strong and not much comes between them.

He marries the wrong woman for him. His best friend can't stand her and let's him know how she feels. In fact, most of his friends and family tells him the wrong girl will be at the altar with him. He marries her anyway and then finds out that she was the wrong choice. She is killed in a car wreck and leaves him with their small daughter. A child that neither really wanted. He calls him best friend for help with the child. She puts her life on hold to help him until she comes to understand that he will never love her as she loves him and she decides to get on with her life.

At this point the story really gets interesting. I really, really liked it. It is interesting to see how these two are going to deal with all the problems that they will soon be facing. One reviewer thought the heroine just desperately wanted to find love. I disagree, she wanted the man she loved to love her. I can imagine there are a lot of couples just like this one. Very best friends until one day one realizes that it is more than friendship they want to share. And if that person doesn't love you that way, it can be the thing that really pulls you down. Communication was a big issue with this couple. Not just talking to each other but really communicating their thoughts and feelings. Assuming things can really make a mess of an issue. It is a good read and I definitely recommend it. It is a short read but there was a lot covered in a short period of time. It was complete.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
